One common denominator of the Merlot wines is their suppleness, and you will find that quality in this Greendance wine. There is an underlying acidity that results in a long, well-balanced finish.

The Merlot grape is one of the main grapes grown in Bordeaux and southwest France, in north central Italy, Tuscany, Mendoza in Argentina, and the central valleys of Chile. In California it is grown in Sonoma, Napa, and Monterey. Two other major growing areas are Washington State and Long Island, New York. Merlot ripens earlier than Cabernet Sauvignon, and can be used in blends to soften the structure and tannins of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot is the main grape of the ‘new’ Super Tuscans. Merlot grapes were the darlings of the California wine industry in the 1990’s, and the wines made from them often garnered much higher prices than they deserved because of this mass popularity. Some of the most expensive wines from Napa can still be vegetal and weedy.
